Setting Up Your Linksys Router Address Is Easy With New Technology

Getting a new router can be pretty exciting, especially if you are upgrading from a slower dial-up service to broadband or a slower broadband router to a faster one. Cisco, who makes Linksys routers, is a company that is considered a premier company when it comes to routers and other Internet connection options. You can purchase wireless routers, DSL routers and cable routers with the Linksys name on them. When you get a Linksys router, you are going to have to setup your router, to ensure the Linksys router address is correct; otherwise your not going to be able to use your router the way that you want.

Fortunately, setting up a Linksys device is pretty simple, the reason for this is that all Linksys routers come preconfigured to work with your computer, including the Linksys router address. If you want to get fancy, you can make whatever changes that you want to the routers configuration. If something happens and you can't get your router to work after you have made your adjustments, then you can reset the whole thing back to the manufacturer specifications.

Linksys has a wide variety of router options. If you have a limited budget, then you can purchase one for as little as $27. The Linksys Wireless - G Broadband Router WRT54G2, for example, falls under this price range. Of course, this is going to be the slowest router option. If you want speed and you have a bigger budget, then the Linksys Wireless - N Gigabit Security Router with VPN WRVS4400N will give you the fastest speeds for about $281.00. You also have cable options that range in price from $34 for the slowest option and to $600 for a high speed networking option.

As you can see, you have a lot of options from Linksys, but they aren't the only ones. NetGear, Belkin, Dlink and more all offer a wide variety of choices too. With a simple online search, you can find the router that you need in the a price range that you can afford. Setup for all of these devices are easy because most come with preconfigured information as well as having their own wizards to show you how to setup the device.

One thing that you should remember, no matter what router you buy, is to set up a password to protect your computer from hackers. If you forget your password, you can reset the device and start over, so don't neglect this part of the process.

Free Cisco CCNA Tutorial

By M. Aslam
All routers attempt all four steps each time that the router is powered on or reloaded. The POST code and functions cannot be changed by the router administrator. The location of the bootstrap code, the IOS to load, and the configuration file can be changed by the administrator-but you almost always use the default location for the bootstrap code (ROM) and for the initial configuration (NVRAM). So, the location of IOS or other software is the only part that typically is changed.
